Hardware and Software

For companies across the globe the innovation and progress of hardware and software plays a big roll in the future. Every company uses databases to hold information for the organization, while all of this information can add up to an immense amount of data, companies should resort to external hard-drives (1). External hard-drives are bigger and more complex versions of USB drives. I happen to own an external hard-drive myself and it has really come in handy. These devices can decrease the amount of memory used by each individual. With all the information that has significance within the company, the company can cut down on the memory usage of all its departments’ computers. Also within a company I think that each employee that has a job description that requires excessive computer access, then this employee should have their own laptop or computer (2) personally. With this approach each employee can keep track of their own data accordingly and with the addition of the external hard-drive they can keep their own personal computer up and running smoothly for a long period of time. Also keeping all of their jobs information very organized and secured within their own personal computer and/ or specific external hard-drive.
Software within devices has become one of the largest online industries in the world. With almost every mobile phone you can purchase a variety of applications that offer all kinds of different features. These applications can be found through programs such as: Android Market, iPhone, BlackBerry Market and more (3). Companies could utilize these programs and offer their employees applications that can aid them in their line of work. One example is an application from the Android Market called ‘Epocrates’. This application is for people studying or working in pharmaceuticals. It offers you a list and search engine strictly for pharmacy work. This can help figure out what is beneficial for what type of condition or situation according to pharmaceutical needs. This type of application can help people working in that specific field but all across these application markets you can find applications that apply to your desired topic. From pharmaceuticals to sports marketing there can be applications founds, and every day these programs release new applications for the publics use.
These programs can be used through your mobile devices and can be accessed wherever your network provider gives access. However, some of these programs are exclusive to certain companies and plans. I think businesses should proposed a deal with the programs companies to provide their workers with these applications for the companies needs. If all of these devices can be upgraded to enable workers to update information and work on the move so easily then all companies can progress very positively.

Systems Theory

All across our world we use systems to interpret organize and share data with any type of formal practices. A system is “a set of interacting or interdependent system components forming an integrated whole”(1). With all types of organized business a system is involved. With nearly everything we do a system is involved. Without a system there is no way to progress in anyway, there is no structure for whatever practice it is that is going on and there is no outline of what to do for a beneficial outcome. There can be simple systems and very complex ones, however, what they all have in common is keeping all information organized and functional for use.
We can look at everyday things and realize that they all have a system of how they work. For example, I am a Lifeguard at my community pool. This pool as a whole is a business and for my job I ensure safety among the swimmers. There is a system that I have to follow for my job. I have a higher official, who is the Lifeguard manager, I receive assignments from him and it can be anything from giving deep-water tests to finding a lost child. For my actions I am rewarded with salary as long as I complete these assignments accordingly. Everyday I fight to keep my job because that is how the system at my pool works.
Systems theory is the Tran disciplinary study of systems in general, with the goal of elucidating principles that can be applied to all types of systems in all fields of research. The term does not yet have a well-established, precise meaning, but systems theory can reasonably be considered a specialization of systems thinking and a generalization of systems science. The term originates from Dr. Bertalanffy’s General System Theory (GST) (2). This plays a role in every system that is being operated. For example, a family can be considered a system and within that system everyone has to respect each other and regulate the rules and ethics that play apart of how families are handled. This family system also has a system theory that plays a big role in the system, The family systems theory is a theory introduced by Dr. Murray Bowen that suggests that individuals cannot be understood in isolation from one another, but rather as a part of their family, as the family is an emotional unit. Families are systems of interconnected and interdependent individuals, none of whom can be understood in isolation from the system (3).
There are millions of systems from a family system, lifeguard system and a transaction processing system (TPS). All these things are support for the integrated whole which the system creates. Every organization has internal things and jobs that need to be cared for so the organization can operate and progress. An organization is also an open system; the organization is influenced internally and externally by their surroundings. An organization consist of suppliers, distributors, government agencies, and competitors and is influenced by cultural values, economic conditions, legal and political forces, and quality of education (4). All of these things plays a roll in how an organization can change and operate. A system keeps them bound and in sync with one another ensuring the businesses positive outcome.

School CD Biz

Running my business that consists of Ecommerce and constant transactions between others and myself will have many steps so this business can prosper. Before the actual webpage is even made I must have a strong foundation of support through the student community. Marketing techniques could help to open this business up more to the public. Once the webpage is up and running this business requires the materials that the business is based around, CDs. Either they are my own or I have bought them from others already, these CDs are my foundation for the business. These CDs need to have a positive impact to ensure that I will be able to proceed in the future with funds that can support this business, enabling me to buy more CDs to sell for profit. After the raw materials (CDs) are owned and have gone through the process of inbound logistics or inbound tracking systems, which is the act of actually receiving the CDs. I will be able to organize the business according to the products. I will have them stored in a warehouse or storage facility that gives me insurance on my goods, also known as raw material inventory control systems. This allows me to end the process of upstream management. There will really be no production step because all of the CDs being sold are already in the state that they need to be in so they can be used. However, once downstream management starts it begins with finished product storage which checks and certifies these CDs so they are fully working and in good condition. Now the CDs reach the online market, these CDs will hopefully be bought and reach the step of outbound logistics, which is also distribution-planning systems. This is the act of the CD being sold and given to the buyer. Now promotion-planning systems plays a massive role in this business because without it, how would the student body ever know that my business even exists. This step is farther along in the value chain, however, for this business I would be promoting my products since the or even before the actual establishment of the website. While the business is operating there will be a need for customer service to ensure the customers that their money is insured and going to the goods they were promised. That step ends downstream management, the business would need their transaction operations and marketing operations to be very strong because this is an Ecommerce business and revolves around specific things.

Analyzing the Value of an Info System

Transaction Processing System (TPS) is used to control all transactions made within an organization. Whenever someone internally in the business makes a transaction, it will be recorded in a TPS report. Examples of certain exchanges within an organization are withdrawing money, making a payment to a creditor, a customer making a purchase or paying an employee. Any type of exchange via cash from person to person is considered a transaction and all of these transactions that affect the organization get recorded for so the organization can stay organized.
These types of files (TPS reports) are very classified information about the organization. These files are given high security and carefully stored so none of the data can be altered in any way. Obviously if this data was altered the company could be hurt dramatically in a financial sense. Normally only managers are able to deal with these files and these managers verify the data, ensuring that no conflicts arise. All of the purchasing and sales data is all present within these files so every company should have a financial system similar to this to be able to produce these reports.
The action of chaining when a company is manufacturing goods, plays a very important role to the organization. The TPS plays a role throughout the steps in chaining and is frequently being recorded with every financial action. When an organization is manufacturing it has a flow of ‘upstream management’ as well as ‘downstream management’. Both of these practices contain a chain of action that can benefit the organization if done carefully and precisely. For upstream management raw materials are extracted for whatever the companies specialization is, then these materials will be transported, via inbound logistics and finally these materials end up at a warehouse and/ or storage facility, this last step is referred to as raw material inventory control systems. After this step these materials find themselves at production where the goods are made for consumption, this is referred to process control systems. Downstream management plays a large role in an organization as well, these practices come after production. Once the goods are out of production they are sent to finished product storage, which is also referred to as automated storage and retrieval systems, where the goods are checked and regulated. Then the goods are transported again through outbound logistics, also known as distribution planning systems, the goods are now on the market after being shipped to stores. Once these goods are on the shelves marketing and sales play a role to influence the customer to spend money on these products, this action is known as promotion planning systems. And finally after all of these steps are completed the business must have a customer service line that enables the customers to know what their money was spent on and any questions or problems the customer may have, this step is known as customer service tracking and control systems. All of these things affect how the TPS is run as well. These steps are all necessary for a beneficial product or business.
